Study in Qatar: Doha Institute Scholarship for International Students

 The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) in Qatar offers full scholarships every year to international students who want to continue their master’s studies. The program is highly competitive, but it covers almost all the costs you would worry about as a student abroad.

Scholarship Types

​1) Tamim Scholarship

​These scholarships based on merit and academic excellence. It is dedicated to the most distinguished Qatari, Residents and international students in the Arab world. Scholarship include full tuition fees coverage, International students from outside Qatar will benefit from having fraccommodation in institute dormitories, a monthly stipend, and health insurance.

​2) Sanad Scholarship​

​These scholarship based on financial needs of students. It is dedicated to Qatari, Residents in Qatar and international students. Scholarship include covering a program's fees (10 to 100 %). International students from outside Qatar will benefit from having their full tuition fees covered, in addition to free accommodation in institute dormitories, a monthly stipend, and health insurance.​​​

Deadline

The scholarship application usually closes January 15, 2025. It’s important to apply early and not wait until the last day to avoid issues with uploading documents.

Document Requirements

1. A Copy of official identification (Passport for International students - Qatari ID for citizens and residents of Qatar).
2. A bachelor's and master's degree certified by official authorities.
3. A bachelor's and master's transcripts certified by official authorities including all transferred courses if any.
4. A Copy of a valid IELTS academic or TOEFL iBt test score.
5. A copy of the master's Thesis, Capstone, or a Research sample.
6. A copy of statement of interest.
7. A copy of preliminary doctoral dissertation proposal.
8. A minimum of THREE academic reference letters to be sent via the online application form.
9. A copy of updated curriculum vitae (CV).

Who Can Apply?

The scholarship is open to Qatari and international students. Applicants should:

1. Hold a bachelor’s degree (in any recognized field)
2. Have strong academic records
3. Meet the program’s language requirements (Arabic or English depending on the course

Note: Students in their final year of undergraduate study can also apply if they expect to graduate before the program starts.

Programs Available

The Doha Institute offers a wide range of master’s degrees under two main schools:

1. School of Social Sciences and Humanities – including philosophy, history, politics, sociology, and media studies.
2. School of Economics, Administration and Public Policy – including development economics, public administration, and international affairs.

Teaching is done in Arabic and English, depending on the program.

How to Apply

The application is done online through the official DI portal. Documents usually required include:

• Create an application on the DI admission portal.
• Applicants can submit one application only. duplicate applications will be disregarded.
• Applicants can save their application progress and apply in several sessions.
• Applicants are required to upload all application materials via the online portal.
• Applicants can request references online via the online application system.
• Referees receive the reference request automatically and can fill out the reference forms online.

Applicants can check the status of their references online and can remind a referee or create a new reference request even after submission of the application.
