KNB Scholarship 2026: Indonesian Government Fully Funded Scholarship for International Students

The Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship program provided by the Government of Indonesia for international students from developing countries who wish to pursue higher education in Indonesia. The scholarship supports Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degree programs at selected Indonesian universities.

The KNB Scholarship is one of Indonesia’s most established international education programs, offering academic training while strengthening long-term educational and diplomatic ties between Indonesia and participating countries.

The KNB Scholarship was first introduced after the 10th Conference of Heads of State of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) held from 1–6 September 1992. Initially, the scholarship was limited to students from NAM member countries, with the first group of awardees enrolled the following year.

Due to increasing global interest, the regional restriction was removed in 2002, and the program was officially renamed the Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) Scholarship. Since then, eligibility has expanded to students from developing regions across Asia, Africa, the Pacific, South America, and Eastern Europe.

The KNB Scholarship aims to strengthen people-to-people relations between Indonesia and partner countries through education. It provides international students with access to reputable Indonesian universities while promoting academic exchange and cross-cultural understanding.

Recipients study at 47 partner universities across Indonesia, particularly at the postgraduate level, within structured academic environments supported by experienced faculty and research facilities.

Since 2006, the program has supported 2,299 students and alumni from 107 countries, reflecting its steady growth and international recognition.

In 2026, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with host universities, will continue implementing the KNB Scholarship selection process.
